GIOIA
Gioia Arieti is a human-centered designer and analog astronaut dedicated to advancing human wellbeing in space exploration and on Earth. With a multidisciplinary background in IT, design, economics and change management she integrates design, technology, and organizational transformation to create solutions that are both innovative and impactful.
Gioia is the founder of Wide Time, a research initiative and calendar system designed for long-duration space missions, with applications extending to Earth, particularly in supporting the quality of life for cancer survivors. Her work in space design has been recognized internationally, including speaking engagements at TEDx and the Melissa Space Conference supported by ESA, th European Space Agency. In 2023, she served as Mission Commander at the Lunares Research Station — the first analog astronaut mission led by a professional designer.
Her contributions span from research and foresight to practical implementation, with published work in Designers in Space, Compass Magazine, and features in media including Daily Scandinavian and Strixus.
In the corporate sphere, Gioia has worked in leadership and consulting roles across industries, specializing in digital transformation, user-centered design, and change management. She has presented her work and research at global organizations and events, including LEGO Group, Maersk, Copenhagen Fintech Week, UX Healthcare London. Her approach bridges the gap between exploratory space research and real-world applications in healthcare, organizational design, and technology development.
